My name is Kay Lynn Akers and I’m a 50-something baby boomer who’s getting serious about personal finance as retirement draws closer.

My wonderful husband (referred here as Mr. Boomer) and I have five adult children from our blended marriage.  We are also blessed with six grandkids to date.

My day gig is working for a technology company that p rovides products and services for the health care industry.

One thing that many people don’t know about me is that I proudly served in the US Navy in my younger days.

I am not a financial expert, but just trying to figure out how to retire at age 60 to have time to travel and enjoy life while we can.

I started reading blogs while studying personal finance and attending Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University.  The many wonderful sites I visited were inspiring and  I figured I had a lot to say as well.   It’s been fun to learn new skills while “meeting” new people and working towards financial peace.

Do you listen to Marketplace Money Newslettter? It is weekly. You can get it online. We find it very interesting and informative concerning personal finance – not too high finance to be useful.

Sharon, I’ll have to sign up for that. I get many of my post ideas from reading newspapers, magazines and websites. Thanks for visiting and I hope you make it a regular stop.
