I’m Gold at Starbucks

by Kay Lynn

Starbucks Gold Card

It’s no secret that I am a Starbucks fan.  It’s one of the luxuries in my budget. In  late 2009, the company added more bang to the Starbucks Rewards program including levels based on purchases.

Last month, I finally hit 30 stars and I was elevated from Green to Gold.  What does that mean?

I get the usual benefits all registered cardholders have plus two new ones. I get a coupon for a free drink with every 15 lattes purchased.   At my rate of consumption that will be five free drinks a year including the free birthday perk.

The best part is the gold card with my name and the year I first registered on Starbucks.com.  I’m ditching my current card as soon as I spend all the credit on it. (I had loaded $25 on the card the DAY before I got the Gold one.)

Starbucks wins because I want to earn free drinks AND whip out my special card.  Hopefully, I’ll resist because I’m cheap on a budget.  Nevertheless, they’ve won my loyalty for the weekly trip.

Does your favorite coffee shop have a rewards program?  What’s your favorite perk?

Starbuck’s has a gold card? I had no idea. I curb my appetite for them long ago and have a chocolatie mocha every … 3 months. LOL. I’m more of a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf drinker. Sadly, I don’t have one by my house.

At that rate, it would take 10 years for you to get gold, LOL!

I can’t stand the smell or taste of coffee. They closed the only coffee shop near me along with a lot of other businesses. 🙁

Our cat hates the smell of coffee as well. He’s always trying to “bury” our coffee mugs by putting newspaper over the top!

Okay, I’ve been meaning to sign up as a Starbucks member for a while, but have never gotten around to it. I want to be gold too! I think you’ve pushed me into action.

Lindy, it’s nice to get recognized for being a regular customer. I think they have one of the best reward programs around.
