Internet Savings: Are you Taking Advantage of the Opportunities?

by Kay Lynn

Puff Daddy George, 2/2

This is the first article of a series on ways to save money on the Internet. That is an open-ended subject but I’ll focus on four specific areas to start with.

Deals

Where do you go to find deals on the web?  Do you read any blogs that point out retail specials?  I’ll highlight a few of my favorites for specials on grocery stores, drug stores and more.

Freebies

I never knew so many businesses and organizations gave away free samples, books, and more until I started reading personal finance blogs.  Just last week we received 5 packs of a new gum and a generous pack of Rachel Ray’s dog food to try.  I’ll share sites that share the tips (and links) for the goods.

Giveaways

Winning something is fun and the Internet offers chances to win everything from a book to a dream house.  It is also a thrill to host your own giveaway and give someone else that thrill.  Although it cuts my chances to win, there’s no one I’d rather share my knowledge with than you.

Coupons

Coupons are not just found in newspapers or mail circulars.  You can the same, or even better, coupons online.  Most sites are designed for printing, but some put the coupons directly on your grocery store club account.

Any other categories that I should include in this series?  Also, any ideas on sites I should include?

I have yet won any sort of giveaways but do search for coupons and deals for things I want to buy. I haven’t tried getting free samples or books yet though. Where do you go for that?

You’ll have to stay tuned and I’ll reveal good sites for freebie information. (I know it sounds like a television ad.)

Nice post — Look forward to your post that would reveal the freebie information. 🙂

That’ll be coming up on Friday. Then I’ll have a vacation break but be back with the rest in May.

I’d just like to add, you also no longer have to pay for information!

At one time, if this or that broke, you’d have to call a specialized professional to fix it, but now you can just google the problem and viola! you have a ton of options!

That’s a good one to add to the series. Thanks!

P.S. If you want to write a guest post on it, let me know.

I love the couponing blogs because I just don’t have time to dedicate fully to couponing like that anymore. They provide the coupons AND match to sales and it’s so incredibly helpful.

Revanche, I agree and will list a few of my favorite sites. However, there are so many that I will surely miss a great one.

BB, can you please provide some more information about SITS?

Bucksome April 19, 2010 at 6:03 pm

SITS is an acronym for Secret is in the Sauce. The website is http://www.thesitsgirls.com. You’ll see it’s geared towards women.
