Weekend Scoop: Alaska Edition

by Kay Lynn

We returned home yesterday from our Alaska cruise vacation.  As we start unpacking, I wanted to write a quick note to let you know that I’m not ignoring your comments; just haven’t been around to read and respond.

We’ve been to Alaska previously, but my parents wanted to go.  It was a group trip with my sisters, brothers-in-law, mom, stepdad and of course Mr. Boomer.  Despite the terrible weather causing us to miss one port, we had a great time.

Highlights include seeing a bear in the wild leisurely eating berries from a bush!  Glacier Bay (where I took the picture above) is one of the most beautiful places on earth and rain didn’t detract.  If you want to see more photos, check out my photostream.

Wonderful pictures! I can’t wait to visit Alaska. I am jealous that you saw a bear! I have been backpacking in pretty remote areas and no bear yet (which can also be a good thing.) 🙂

@Derek, I don’t know you deal with winter (that would be hard for me), but I love visiting your home state!

@ Niki, You’re welcome. I wish we got more but my brother-in-law took some great ones I plan to borrow :).

@ 20’s Finances , that bear eating berries in the wild was the highlight of the trip! We also saw whales, porpoises, and seals.
