Weekend Scoop: Steve and Irene Edition

Hurricane Irene as Seen from Space

Hurricane Irene as Seen from Space

Earlier this week I thought Steve Jobs’ resignation as Apple CEO would be the biggest story of the week.  That shifted as the week drew to a close and Hurricane Irene impacted 65 million Americans.  As I write this, Irene has made landfall in New Jersey and New York City is prepared and waiting.  Three million people that survived Irene have no power.

The coming days will reveal the final cost of this storm and I’m not just talking dollars (although it will be a big bill!).

Around the Web

This week at Couple Money, I wrote about the fees being charged at public schools.  What’s your thoughts on paying extra for things you might consider standard?

The problems from Irene will continue for a while. Thanks goodness it was not worse. While Apple will go on without Steve Jobs, the photos that surfaced from two days after his resignation were devastating. I’m afraid he is not long for this world. What a legacy he leaves.

I didn’t see those pictures, but knew he had to be really ill to step down.

Thanks for the mention! I’m glad that Irene has passed and hope the flooding withdraws soon. Sounds like a lot of people are still without power.
